Perhaps an odd question. I own,and often enjoy an aluminum Bialetti Moka Express. I've started thinking of getting a new gasket. However,I find that I don't know what size it is considered to be--6 cup?,9 cup? What?? Filled as for brewing,it holds 16 oz. The question one of how many oz. Bialetti considers a cup to be. Anyone know? Tnx, Barry
At the top of the page, there's a link ("Click here to find out what size of espresso maker you have!") to a chart that shows pot sizes based on the outside diameter of the gasket.
I have 6 and 9 cup Bialetti aluminum mokas. By my measurement and references I've seen online, Bialetti uses a cup size of 1.5 oz. So 16 oz. (to fill the reservoir approximately to the mark) sounds like it could be either a 9 or 12 cupper. My 6 cupper measures 9 oz. and my 9 cupper is 13.5. A 12 cupper should be 18 oz.
Just because it happened to you doesn't make it interesting.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
You can pick these gaskets up pretty well anywhere, like in any grocery store in the coffee section. A big grocery chain up here has an area/display at the end of the rack with Bialetti gaskets & such hanging there, in the Homeware section & cheap too! {;-)

Well, it's a wasteland for espresso machine parts that's for sure! {:'-(
How about an Italian grocery store? It's been said that something like 90% of Italian families have a Bialetti or Moka pot in their households. I'd think that they'd be sure to have them.
Sounds good, guy, but you miss the question. I have no problem finding gaskets. It's just that the damn thing doesn't identify itself as to "cup size". I think I have it identified, and I'm pretty sure a local gourmet store will such as Willliams Sonoma will pat me on the head and hand me one. Your Friend, Barry
Could you please tell me the name of the store (if naming stores is allowed here). I have a Bialetti Musa, and would like to know where I can get the gasket when time to replace it comes.
