Weird. I don't understand Amazon's pricing structure... The price seems like it can change from day to day and even within the day. Must be related to demand?

Their prices do change quite often, but if you buy it and the price drops within 30 days they will give you the difference back if you ask. Sometimes if Amazon is the seller and it goes out of stock, the price will show up higher but it's now being sold by another vendor through Amazon. Very strange but if you want to buy something there and watch the price from day to day you usually see it changes a lot for many items. In your link, Amazon isn't listed as the seller as of right now so they probably just sold out temporarily due to the great price.
Update - not long after I wrote this post, the $39.99 price from Amazon is back for anyone that wants one while it lasts.

This is a great brewer period and a really good deal at any price under $100. Not long ago I bought two of them for $60 shipped (one for home, one for the house out on our land) and that sale has repeated a couple of times since. I brewed a couple of wonderful pots of Idido Misty Valley in this the past couple of days and all the flavors were perfectly represented. It was so good that yesterday morning I chose to brew a pot of Misty Valley in the ST600 over making espresso - a rarity for me.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it at the price of $79.99 that Amazon is currently showing but if you watch it daily you will most likely come across another sale before too long.
