Hi - I am in a new office now and can't stand the office coffee. Is there any good single serve coffee machines that use grinds? (Not Pods or Kcups as I can't stand the thin taste). I wish their was a machine that grinds beans and makes one cup of coffee (besides the $11000 clover).

If you don't mind pre-grinding your coffee at home and doing a little bit of pushing, the Aerobie AeroPress for $30 can't be beat! (You may also need something to heat water with if you don't have access to a microwave - I recommend Wal-Mart's GE 1.7 qt. electric-base tea kettle for $30, and a cheap digital thermometer to check the water temperature before brewing.)

There are 150+ pages of user comments about it on this forum, mostly from those of us who love it - see: "Aerobie Aeropress" :^)

Thanks - I have the Aeropress since it first came out and use it alot at home (that was when I first got into coffeegeek) - it just not a good fit to use where I work.

I pregrind in the morning and use a Melitta one cup pour over filter.  Just have to heat up the water first.  It's far better than the Kcups that our office uses.

I've done that too however I would pay whatever it is for a machine if the right one was around. I have read nice reviews on the Cuisinart SS-1 Cup-O-Matic Single Serve Coffee Maker - wich uses pods or grinds - however wanted to know if there is a better option.

Have you tried the my-k-cup for the keurig? I agree with you on the thin taste of the k-cups, but the my-k-cup allows up to 2.7 tbsp of your coffee in the basket, it's quick and if you have more baskets can make the next one almost immediately. I would never drink most of the k-cup coffee and only looked into this after learning that you can use your own coffee. Today I had an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe that I roasted 3 days ago and it was a rich nice cup of coffee ( I used 2 tbsp of coffee to 5.25 oz of water).

I have done that however to me the Keurigs lack the full bodied taste of a good cup of coffee - mainly because of the fast brewing time (some pods are a little better but also dont come close to a good fresh cup out of my Techniverm) and there my kcups did not help me.
Thanks

Steve, I wrote a recent review of the Cuisinart SS1.  I feel this will fit your needs well.  I can make an excellent cup with fresh grounds.  The filter basket can fit almost 20 grams of coffee.  I have owned most of the single serve machines, and for using ground coffee the SS1 is clearly the best I have found.  You can buy one from William-Sonoma and return it if you don't like it.

I really like my Black & Decker Brew N Go when I don't want to fire up my Newco OCS8
No filters to mess with but you do have to pre-grind the coffee. Delivers hot flavorful coffee. Can't go wrong for about $15.00 on sale.

Just one thing lol...for $11,000 the Clover doesn't even grind the beans.  Do you have a way to heat water or are you looking to have an all in one type of thing other than grinding (don't believe there are any single serving machines that grind)?  Bodum makes a nice little pourover called the Cafe Solo that's around $11 shipped - I have one and used to use it at work all the time.  Here's a link to it:
