Today I just received this BeHa box mill from Orphan Espresso. It's basically a wedding gift for a friend and i would like to know a little more about Beha grinders.

the BeHa Mill

When i bought it I thought it was a Pede mill till i read my receipt. But I'm quite happy with it. I just test brewed a press of fc+, 24hr old Brasil Poco Fundo Coop and to me the fruity undertones seem a little more present, milder chocolates, and overall a cleaner finish than my kitchenaid proline. My only problem is I'm giving it away thus I would like to inform the bride about the history of BeHa mills. Also It's adjustment assembly and overall burr construction looks very Zassenhaus.

Sweet, I just received a email this morning from Orphan Espresso;

Not a lot of information on those old prewar mills.   I think they were made by Zassenhaus, as they are identical in the mechanical construction, as a rebranded mill for various european markets.   Aside from the Be Ha, we have seen the Ah Ha, and the Ha Ha, and the just plain Ha, as well as various models called simply Mocca with different logos, one has an elephant and another a turkish guy on a carpet.  I can't verify the origin, but they are quality grinders with very good burrs, and a previous Be Ha ground a nice espresso as well.

Ok that answers that. It sounds almost like seeing all of these rebranded Mazzers today.
