Well, it just got here and I made my first break in pot. Couldn't resist trying it. I don't normally drink coffee black but this stuff is pretty darn good! I can't wait till the pot is properly seasoned! I did have to jiggle the hat a bit after 6-7 minutes to get it to go but then it spewed forth is frothy goodness. I think I'll go make another.

What heat temp did you have it on?

It was a little above med. heat on a gas stove. I'm using the smallest burner on the stove but it's still almost too big and most of the heat seems to go around the pot. Otherwise, I would probably have it on a higher setting.

I'm going to do some more experimenting this morning with placement on the burner. Possibly off center or something to see if it gets it going a bit faster.

Good to hear the replacement one is working right. I may have to pull the trigger on one of these soon. How many ounces does the 2-cup make, I'm assuming it's around 8 oz.

The 2 cup only makes about 3 oz. If you wanted more Brikka, you would probably go for the 4 cup which would give you closer to 6 oz. It's not measured in what you would think of as a cup but in 1-1.5 oz. "espresso" shots. It's quite concentrated. I've read some people mixing in hot water with the finished product but I use it to make my milk more palatable.

I did get my first mediocre cup today. I made my wife's cup which tasted great. Then mine. I wouldn't so much say that it had much of a rubbery TASTE (although that was there and didn't taste burnt) but it was more of a rubbery texture kinda like what I would imagine chewing on a wad of rubber bands would be like. I know it sounds really weird but I think I may have missed cleaning a bit of the lower gasket when I cleaned it. I probably should have pulled that one completely off (it's just a rubber ring that goes around the filter basket) and cleaned it that way. Didn't get the inside of the gasket when I cleaned.

That would explain the NOT-burned rubberyness.

Ok thanks. I should have thought it through more and I would have realized that it was about 3oz based on my Moka pot, but I couldn't picture a pot being THAT small in physical size. :)
