It is possible that the vacuum seal between the inner and outer lining has broken. The vacuum sound that you hear when you open it is different, however; this is caused by the coffee cooling (thus lowering the air pressure) in the carafe.
I have occasionally heard of problems with the carafe losing heat retention ability, but I've never heard of anyone finding a way to fix it or get a replacement. I'd recommend talking with the distributor or even the manufacturer and see if they've heard of this problem. If it's only been a couple of months then it is probably still under warranty protection of some kind.

I don't know what might cause it, or how to tell if it has, other than to notice that it doesn't keep coffee warm anymore. If it were glass, then it would be easy enough to tell-- either the glass would be broken, or you could see the rubber stopper damaged, or something. The SS construction is too strong to be able to tell a broken vacuum just from looking at it.
I have heard enough occasional complaints to assume that a broken vacuum seal might be what is what is causing this problem for most of them. The pot won't break, it won't look wrong, it ... just doesn't keep the coffee warm. I assume the seal is managed under the plastic bottom of the pot somehow. Maybe since yours is apparently broken, and if you're not trying to get it replaced under warranty, you could look under there and see something that might educate the rest of us. I don't think it would be too difficult to find another SS carafe of some kind to replace it, you'd just need the right size.

Thanks for the reply Donald.
I am going to try and get it replaced under warranty, so I'm not gonna mess with removing the bottom just yet.
I sent email to both Technivorm in the US, which is distributed by Boyd's I believe, and even to Holland on this but haven't gotten any response at all.
Do you have any suggestions for a replacement server, or any sites that I could browse that have some?

I'm not sure writing to TV will help; I've never heard anything from them officially-- ever. You'd think they would have something to say about being so highly touted, but nothing. Often these types of manufacturers work only through their distributors, so that's a good start, but also check with the people you got it from. They should be able to direct you to whoever you need to go to.
As for online carafes, I don't know any off the top of my head, but a Google search is a good place to start.

Hi dvdchance,
I've actually emailed Technivorm directly several times on technical questions & they've replied every time with helpful info. It always takes Holland at least a week to respond. Of course, like svyerkgeniiy says, warranty issues might be handled only thru distributor channels. Zojirushi has an excellent reputation for stainless thermal carafes (maybe available at Target?), or try Hot-Coffee or other e-tailers for different brands.
Other than a manufacturing defect, the only way I could think a SS thermal carafe might lose its seal is subjecting the pot to a temperature extreme (way too hot or cold) or thermal shock (hot pot into cold water or freezing pot into hot water) of some kind. With the vacuum seal gone, the outside of the pot should get warm/hot after a few minutes. For example, my KBTS carafe is cool/cold to the touch regardless of how long the coffee's in there.
