Subject: Still pondering on what machine to upgrade to

I have been researching which espresso machine to upgrade to for the past few months.  In December someone out there in cyberspace had purchased a Rocket Cellini and I'm wondering if they are happy with it?

I presently have a Starbucks barista, so this would be a big step up!  We really enjoy our Americanos in the am, and have lattes in the afternoon, so we want a machine that dispenses hot water as well as steams.

I look forward to getting feedback on the Cellini as we saw it at Seattle Coffee Gear and thought it looked like a good machine, but then what do we know????.

    Thanks everyone out there!

The rocket is a sophisticated HX (heat exchanger machine) right up there with the best. You will be able to steam your head off, but truthfully, you could do likewise with machines costing hundreds less.
Still, I saw the rocket at last years SCAA show. It's better looking in person.

Your barista (basically a Saeco) can make a every fine cup, IF you have a dedicated espresso grinder, fresh beans, and you have removed the "crema enhancing " device from the PF.
First, your grinder is not an espresso grinder. It's fine for drip and such, but not for espresso, especially a mchine like a Rocket or other HX, which needs a quality, dust free, chunk free grind.

Check with your chosen vendor, and work out a deal for a quality espresso grinder.
I'd recommend you stay away from a Rancilio Rocky, as there are alternatives in nearly the same price range MUCH better, and more consistent.
Baratza Vario, LeLit, etc. Maybe a used Mazzer SJ.

You MUST have a quality espresso grinder, or you're wasting your money.
