hmmm Add 3lbs dry processed Ethiopian, roast for 45mins in a fine screen drum where the chaff is trapped and the thermostat can go to 500f. The moisture content at that point will be .001%. oh yeah, stand ready with your fire extinguisher.

I don't know if 45 divided by 3 would be the correct formula to use for that, however I am sure that it would roast 1 pound  much quicker than 3.  That would be typical of any basically any roaster.

Yup.  Probably do a 1/2 pound in 15 though.

I would think so as well but according to the seller of this 4oz-3lbs roaster "This roaster will not roast beans in 15 minutes", so I guess it doesn't.
As far as users feed back there is a complete lack of anything being said about this roaster other then it does exactly as advertised.

If only I had a bottomless bank account I would order one up for kicks.

Anyone notice that the return info has been revised a ton of times and now reflects purchase price and only if it will not roast at all?

On a side note, I cannot believe I have wasted this much time looking at this thing.

And since gime2much uses a popcorn popper and then brews it in a Bunn, he feels compelled to share his expert opinionon all things roasting.  Give me a break.

Totally out of line!!!!!

I no longer use a popcorn popper but thats irrelevant. I prefer press to the Bunn (which has been replaced with a plumb-in Curtis) and espresso pulled on one of my 2 hx machines to either.

If having the knowledge to realize that referring to a 45 minute roast is asinine makes one an expert, this forum is afloat with them (which actually it is).

Your third post and coming off like a smart a$$?  Hummm....something smells familiar here. Dat u again Tommy??????????

Later..

This thing is clearly underpowered and has no apperant means for cooling the beans.  To a lesser degree one could say the same for the Z&D / Nesco, however with sufficient hacking I think I can rival any roaster.  Of course I can ony do 1 cup of beans in a batch.

If this thing were cheaper and I could be assured I could remove the drum when hot to dump the beans into a cooler I could be tempted to get one and start hacking.  I would want a temp probe in the roast drum and a BIG Variac to boost the roast heater.  With that I think I could equal my Z&D and have a 2+ pound capacity.

Phil, I just roasted 360 grams in 47 minutes, including clean-up, with my 'PJK-hacked' Nesco. Original 2007 heating element is still going strong despite many back-to-back-to-back roasts, and a few 480 gram sessions..

If we tied 4 Z&D's together, could we do 4 pounds/hour?
