Are there any other grinders to look at around $200 besides the Baratza Virtusoso. I am about to pull the trigger but figured I would ask first. I am looking for something that will be good for drip, CCD and pour over. I have a Capresso Infinty that seems to grind pretty irregular and has a lot of grind retention. At the same time if grinders in this price range are not going to be much better than I would be better of just keeping what I have already. Any ideas?

I too am looking at getting a grinder for Chemex/Clever. Looks to me like Baratza Maestro Plus is the way to go for me....not sure what the virtuoso adds. Any reason why you chose the virtuoso? My understanding is that your only real upgrade with this grinder is for french press (not good with Maestro). Although with the 2012 burr set (precisio), you should be able to use for espresso (just not the fine control as with precisio)....but not what either of us is looking for and not under $200. Baratza is the line to look at for value, would likely be the consensus here unless you are interested in hand grinder.

I guess I am looking for something better than my Capresso. I have always assumed ( maybe wrongly) that the Baratza Maestro Plus was at about the same level as my Infinty but better as far as grounds retention. That is onr issue I am having but I would like a better grind also if I am going to spend the money.
Good review of all baratza grinders....summary; probably some improvement of virtuoso over maestro in middle grind settings....unsure what this would do in your cup. Also unclear how Maestro or virtuoso would compare with infinity.

Get the virtuoso. It's the best grinder 200 and under in my opinion. The new virtuosos got a burr upgrade to the preciso burrs. I think it's worth it. I would get the virtuoso if I don't do espresso. OR, if you're patient, you can find a used vario for 200. I picked one up earlier. So worth it.

Here is a Breville Smart grinder - seller is asking for $100 plus shipping. Never used one but a quick search will reveal a lengthy thread that will fill in a lot of blanks.
