My crappy coffee machine from Target is no longer cutting it. I need a drip machine that will make a decent cup of coffee but i'm really not looking to spend very much. Under 100 is my ultimate goal: the cheaper the better. I don't need an awesome cup every morning--I have my espresso machine to do that for me--I just need a drip coffee machine that will brew me a decent cup to get me through the day. Anyone have any suggestions of cheap machines that will do the job? Thanks.

Yeah, I'd definitely save a little more and get the Bonavita. From what I've read, it seems like it brews a cup as nice as a Technivorm but at a much lower cost.

It does need to be a machine--when I wake up early in the morning I am barely capable of pressing that button before a cup of coffee. Bonavita is still in the price range--didn't get a whole lot of great reviews on amazon tho. Not that amazon reviews are the perfect representation of an "expert". What are the key features I should look for in a good coffee brewing machine?

I hadn't seen the thread--thanks tho it was helpful. I'm still hesitant reading reviews from people that sounded like they did the research and weren't all too impressed. The Hamilton Beach two way brewer caught my eye--I like the single serve concept and although I read a few bad reviews they all seemed to be from people who received a faulty unit which is possible with any company that doesn't test each machine before sending. Anyone use one before--or know of any horror stories from someone that has?

i dont know anything about the hamilton beach machine.
i think it's speaks a lot of the bonavita that it's being compared to the Technivorm brewers. the TVs go for about 300 dollars and is typically considered one of the best for home brewers. In nearly every comparison ive seen, the reviewers were split on the two. The consensus was that they both will make a very good cup of coffee.

That's kind of interesting seeing the average for the BV is 4.5 stars. That says to me, there may be issues, but no more issues than _any product_ will have. And since the overwhelming reviews are positive, I'd give them more weight.
Which is why I went with the Bonavita myself. If you are moving up from some hack Target coffee maker you will definitely taste a difference for the better. Now if you are one of those guys who has been using top quality coffee makers, spending over $200 a pop, sure, you may find reasons to justify why you've been spending all that money all that time and why you wouldn't want to sully your hands with the BV. "Affordable" is pretty subjective.
But if you are like me who went from a 10 year old Mr. Coffee machine to the Bonavita, you really can't go wrong. At least not anymore wrong than with anything else you buy. Quality control is not 100% in any industry, especially in the lower end of any industry. But the Bonavita folks seem to have gotten more good reviews than bad for customer service as well. So they do seem to want to make a difference. If the bad reviews were more typical and the good reviews were the exception, I would be wary. that does not seem to be the case.
Or go with the Bunn. Less expensive, just as SCAA certified, if that means anything to you. You may prefer the basket not living on the pot itself.
