Is it assumed that you want to use a 40 grind setting for a french press? Can't seem to find this info anywhere...manual says 34-40, but that seems like quite a wide range.  And where do people normally set the micro setting?

Try starting your FP grind at 32 if you are using the standard 4 min steep, plunge, and pour. If it tastes a bit flat and lacking character, grind finer, but if it comes out tasting full with a bitter edge, go coarser. There isn't a perfect grind that everyone can use. The proper grind depends largely on the bean, method, and grinder. I started my press pot grind at 32 and did just what I described above to settle into my preferred range.

I leave the micro dial at F typically.

I hope that works for ya!

^^^ What Sam said. I end up around 33F usually with my Preciso for press-style brewing, and it's calibrated medium-fine (took a look under the hood).
