Technivorm make single jug filter machines ranging between 1 litre and 3 litre capacities, and larger dual-jug machines.

I don't know whether the larger ones are available in N.America though as there may not be sufficient market there to make it worthwhile.

I have not seen them advertised here; only the one size.

It is interesting that they are available in other sizes elsewhere in the world. :^)

I have heard they are cheaper elsewhere, also! :O How nice, to be able to get a larger, cheaper model ... :o)

Almost forgot to ask for all of you who own a Bonavita with a thermal carafe:

Do you have to preheat the carafe?

Can you get hot coffee without preheating the carafe?

This is important to me, as I am trying to decide between glass and thermal. The thermal sounds great -- I've never had a thermal. This thermal is glass-lined, which retains heat and that sounds good. I do not want to have to preheat the thermal carafe.

Thanks. :)

I have the thermal, and the coffee comes out steaming hot even without  preheating.  When I preheat, I have to transfer to a second cup to cool it down so I can drink it. And I only make a 16oz pot, so a normal sized  pot would even cool down less.  I am glad I got the thermal.

Thank you, franky, I very much appreciate your input on this! I am leaning toward the thermal at the moment (though this seems to change daily!) But the thermal has stuck for the past few days with the nagging exception of this one issue. I don't want to go through that extra step of preheating the carafe.

That is really nice to know that you are not having to preheat the carafe. :^) Always nice to hear about other people's experiences!

If I hear from a couple more people about the thermal carafe, and their experiences -- whether or not they need to preheat it -- hopefully not, I think I am on the brink of placing an order for one.

Thank you, Coffee Geek-ers! :^)

I have had mine for about 3 months and there is no need to preheat the thermal carafe.  I'm using the Bonavita more than my Technivorm.

Anyone have experience with the Krups Moka Brew and can compare it to the Bonavita?  I've been using the Moka Brew for about three years with nary a problem (and consistently good coffee) but I'm growing tired of needing to pour the brew into a carafe, etc.  I considered the TV but I think it's overpriced.

Have a Moka Brew, a Technivorm and the original Melitta version of the "Bonavita".

I like the Moka brew too, but it's a different process from a drip coffee maker, and I don't think you can make an objective comparison of the results. I use whichever takes my fancy and know it will be a different type of cup from the Moka brew compared against the drip machines.

Just out of interest - why do you need to pour the Moka brew into a separate carafe ? Mine keeps it warm in the glass carafe, although it doesn't stay sitting around long anyway.  (It is an old version though, so perhaps the more recent ones work differently).

Thank you for the reply.  I love the Moka Brew and it really is a very simple machine that produces consistently good coffee.  I like my coffee HOT so I pour it into a carafe so it stays that way...just my preference.  The last drip maker I used was a Melitta Clarity.  I still have it but was wanting something with a smaller footprint which the Bonavita seems to offer.
