You misunderstood me, sir. I meant, that's the Brazen, a $199 uber featured coffee maker being used as a hot water kettle might be an example of OVERKILL.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. BTW, sarcasm/dersion isn't usually your style, and I don't believe I deserved it.

Ah well...I appreciate it because the BraZen's pre-infusion and pulse brewing settings will make the expensive and rare Chemex branded water delivery system pretty much obsolete. Plus ability to control the temperature will suit the Chemex very well. I find that Chemex brewing doesn't require as much technique when pouring as other methods because of the thicker filters and (suggested) longer steep times. So I wouldn't want to use the BraZen for V60 or anything like that. But if I have guests over, or I'm just feeling lazy, it will be nice to get a good Chemex brew without having to pour myself. Sorry about the sarcasm...just a misunderstanding ;)

We're good! I guess I'm just misunderstanding why you'd involve a Chemex in the first place, when basically the Brazen would be performing that function automatically, using it's own devices.

Well..apparently one of the design criteria for the Brazen was that it would fit the 6 Cup Chemex. The Chemex is 8 1/2" tall and the space in the BraZen is 9".
I understand what you're saying about the BraZen using it's own devices...but sometimes there are certain coffees that I feel taste better using Chemex paper instead of metal or other paper filters. But of course, I haven't even tasted a BraZen brew yet.

Is the BraZen available yet? I haven't checked all the suppliers, but I checked a few of my favorites, Burman, Sweet Maria's and their not showing it yet? Anybody know?

And THAT is an excellent observation, IMO.
I find I have to THOROUGHLY rinse (run 20-25 oz) of water through the white Chemex filter to rid them of the paper taste. I'm not sure if Joe has a paper filter recommendation. I actually try to avoid non filtered coffee, other than espresso, and the occasional delicious vac pot cup, of course. I'm finally getting consistent Hario results...slow and slower wins THAT race, it seems.
I can't wait till the Brazen "comes to a theater near you."
