Has anyone here gotten their hands on a Kalita "Pelican" kettle? I haven't found any US distributors for them so it seems the only way is to get them directly from Japan. Kalita makes a stainless electric version, as well as (what appears to be) enamelware ones. The large pouring spout is really attractive to me. I found a few videos on Youtube, and it appears a lot of coffee shops in Japan use them. I'd be interested in hearing from some coffee geeks on how they perform.

Just based on a quick look I would say the Bonavita would be my choice for pourover. For anything else, the cheapest thing I can find works. I happen to be biased however as I own the Bonavita and really like it. It holds a touch more water 1 liter to .8 with the Kalita. Though Bonavita means it when they say 1 liter max, the Kelita may be able to hold more than .8. Other than that the Kelita may have a touch less pour control but be able to pour faster when needed, like when doing French press when I like to almost dump the water in. Personally I never brew less than 32oz out of habit so the 1 liter was a minimum, but I'm interested in hearing what others may say.
As to the people saying the wave from Kelita is new.....They need to look at the Bunn filters which have been around for as long as I can remember. The Kelita filters look like the same thing but with a smaller bottom. They always worked well in drip machines so I can see where they could work well in pourovers.
