Those are production runs, I assume.  I have one without it, one with a 15, and some New, Old Stock (in the box) with 16s.

Mine is #8.
Evan, I'd take Dave up on his kind offer to perhaps set you up with a cory.
As you know, these guys can be a frustrating time on the 'bay.
My Cory works perfectly, no spring thing necessary.

Amazing, with the considerable amount of pressure each way, these filters do their job.
The vac pot was a great design. Still is.

OT...the Yama retains more water down south during the brew than my other pots, but I compensate with a few grams more coffee.

The 5-cup retains proportionately more water on the south pole than does the 8-cup.  Both work extremely well in producing a clean cup that displays a coffee extremely well.

+1. ..and never a stuck pot. A brilliant gasket.

Interestingly, the spaces Evan sees when using HIS Lox-in are tiny slivers on my rig.

It fits, and works fine, on my parents 8 cup Yama. The opening isn't nearly as concave as the 5-cup.

Oh. So THAT prolly is the problem.
I would have thought for cost cutting, they would have as much the same as possible.

I believe you'll find the Cory rod will be the ticket!
Hope so.

BTW, I've had coffee prepared in the little hario Siphon, and it is even better, if that's possible.
Not sure why. That would be for wiser minds. :>D

I just won a Corning rod off eBay. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Really loved the idea of the filter being secured in place though :(

Just found out that Yama HAS changed the 5-cupper over the years. Drastically, at that.

So, you AIN"T crazy!!
Who would've thought they'd alter it?
I have the older design 8 cup.
I like the newer better...more like their syphon.
Glad you got it all sorted out.

I too have the newer version of the 5-cup Yama stovetop, like you do, (a cone-shape more than bulbous) and the Silex Lox-In works fine in it.

Your Silex Lox-In must be mis-cast and that is presenting a seating problem for you.
