Buy it. Wonderful piece of equipment. Think about the stovetops for more convenience.
Inexpensive steel alloy. The filter is cotton.
Though I have never used a Cona, I don't see how the upscale design and price will result in a different cup. I use my Yamas (5- and 8-cup stovetops) every day.
RE: Glass filter. Unless you have a high-end grinder ($450+), stay away from a glass rod. Cheaper grinder produce a variety of grind size, to include fine dust. That will clog a glass filter's extraction but you would be fine with the standard cotton that permits draw down.
Does an Infinity 560 qualify as a High End grinder? Paid about $75 on Amazon. No problems with clogging the Cona glass filter! But then, I haven't run 25 pots yet.

I hope it's ok to ask this question here- seems like the thread has veered a little bit this way... What are the pros and cons to using a glass filter in the 5 cup Yama? It'd be nice to keep the whole brewing system glass and not have to deal with the hassle of the cloth filter but read somewhere that Yama advises against glass filters. And which glass filters will work on the Yama 5c ? Thanks!

Thanks very much. I'm looking at ebay now and seeing quite a few to choose from and not too expensive so I'm gonna get one. I'll be combing thru the archives to learn what I can before the brewer arrives. Excited :) Gonna roast up a batch of Kona for the maiden voyage.
