I tried the Kalita Wave Style set, which is thought to present easy (quick) clean up. I question the easy (quick) clean up. Am I missing something? Basically, the handle-less dripper rests on a wire basket. After you finish brewing, b/c there is no handle, like there is on most drippers, than how do you get the filter out? If you grab by the wire basket and turn upside down than both the filter and the handle-less dripper will fall into the trash. If you try and lift the dripper out of the wire basket, right after brewing, than it is HOT. The only solution is to leave the handle-less dripper/wire basket in the sink for a while, until the dripper cools down, which takes several minutes. I am accustomed to just pulling a filter from the chemex, by the ends--or if using a traditional dripper, than grabbing it by the handle and turning it upside down. Am I missing the easy (quick) cleanup that others point to?
Visually, the style set is very attractive. However, I am not sure that easy, meaning quick cleanup, is its strength.Any thoughts about how to get the used filter out, without waiting for the whole thing to cool?

Is it not possible to use your fingernail or the tip of a knife to lift the edges of the [ostensibly wavy-edged] filter off of the glass and then pull the filter out for disposal?

Everything is possible. However, this is marketef as easy cleanup I would think easy cleanup should mean toss and rinse, without having to wonder how to get the filter out

Chemex has spoiled you. Most of us who use other filters/drippers are used to waiting for things to cool down before cleaning up.
In general, this is my problem with vessels that hold the filter in the serving vessel (a la Chemex). I prefer they be separate, so that I can move the filter holder over to a resting vessel, freeing up the serving vessel. By resting vessel, I mean the same little glass 1/2 cup prep bowl from the Pampered chef that I use to weigh out my coffee dose and dump it into the grinder. Filter drippers rest on them neatly, and the last few drops are safely captured as the whole shebang cools off.

Thinking out loud here: what if you were to attach some magnets to the exterior of the glass dripper so that it sticks to the metal basket, enabling a flip of the whole thing over the trash can?

Can't you just lift the paper filter up, out, and into the trash? Then just give the whole thing a cool water wash to bring the temp down and clean it out. That seems simple enough to me, but maybe I am missing something.
