^No, from the perspective of the OP I mean, someone looking for a retro style design, and the lido being so much more expensive makes it an even tougher option. But I really liked both their aesthetics from the start. The simple raw machine look, form follows function principle etc. Especially with some of the user upgrades I saw done. I still kind of want one, even though I really don't need it.

Ahhh... Well, if you ever need a travel grinder, I can't recommend it enough. It's as expensive as a Baratza Encore, but it can take the abuse of travel very well. I have the handle removal mod and love it. The near lack of maintenance it requires makes it a very fun grinder to use!
I have to add my voice to the LIDO praise. I've been using mine for about two months and it only get better and better. Really good grind consistency, easy to use, good speed... I also have two vintage grinders that do look better but the LIDO makes a much better cup for me. Well worth the price.
I have to admit I was not expecting such unanimous support for one grinder! I am pretty much sold on the LIDO. I just tried calling OE before midnight pacific time but nobody answered. I will try again I guess on Thursday. I am not American but I assume they will be closed tomorrow due to the 4th of July holidays.
Thank you for all of your feedback. With 100% approval from the four of you it definitely makes me feel like this is a solid path to follow!
lol yeah we decided for you while you were gone. A consensus is rare in any gear forum, but don't count my vote- or a unamimous with a + 1/2 vote at best, as I've never even seen a Lido in person. Just really wanted one after 100's of pages of OE grinder threads (at another cofee phorum, I don't know if linking is legal here). But if you google for them, you'll have a lot of fun reading & photos of customization/modding potential ahead of you while waiting for your Lido to ship. And btw thanks alot for rekindling my interest in these things- I had successfully waited this itch out & gotten over it the first time without any harm done. Because I don't need, just really want a Lido or Pharos... just for a toy!
