I don't know about widest range of flavors, but the vacuum pot consistently produces the best brewed coffee for me, compared to autodrip, pourover, Clever, Aeropress, or even my beloved Krups Moka Brew (or French press, which is my least favorite method).
Just because it happened to you doesn't make it interesting.

Well, yup. It does appear that Dr. Illy and company would expect the strength of a typical espresso around 4.73% strength (the filtrate concentration) and a total solids (unfiltered oven dehydrated) around 5.25% (of course he states it in mg/ml)
Yes, but mg/ml ~= mg/mg at 20°C. A difference of less than 0.2% when we're talking about whether espresso is 5% or 10% or higher isn't important.
Slightly off topic, I just got back from a backpacking trip, 110 miles in five days. For these types of trips I drink instant since pack weight really matters. Someone had told me they liked Medaglia D'Oro Instant Espresso Coffee better than StarUpchucks VIA. So I gave it a try this time and I agree wholeheartedly. It's the best instant coffee I've ever had! Granted, that's not a high bar, but I actually enjoyed drinking it which is unusual for any instant coffee. There was even some false crema when I added the water.
If only I'd had a refractometer with me to figure out whether I'd brewed it at 5% or 10% strength...
