Can anyone that has one of these pull a couple quick measurements for me? I need to know the height from the lip that rests on the cup and also the diameter. I just got the Tiamo version and I am trying to see if they are close to the same. The reason I ask is I just did my first cup with it and with 30 grams of coffee it was very full with just the grinds in it. It says you can use this for much bigger batches and it seems like the grinds would be very full then, not leaving a lot of room for water. Also any recommendations on grind size?
I can't be of much help with size measurements as I am not around my 185 at the moment. That said, because these brewers are best used with pulse pours, you only need enough water to keep a column of water above the grounds. From all that I have heard about the Tiamo lineup, they are identical to the Kalita lineup. I have watched folks brew with 40+ grams on the Kalita for what it's worth.

Give Nick Cho's Kalita vids a watch if you already haven't. His Kalita Intensive video is a must watch. I believe pouring style is largely what helps create a flat bed. Let me know if that works for you!

This, but also don't worry too much about the bed geometry unless you're noticing defects in the brew. It has not mattered quite as much as some seem to insist, in my experience.
From the plastic lip that rests on the cup, to the top of my glass Kalita dripper is 6.7cm. The diameter is 11cm.
The height of yours from the lip to the top may be different just due to the design, but I think the actual internal size of the Tiamos should be the same as the Kalitas.
I've noticed that it's a little trickier to get a flat bed with coffees that have a huge bloom since the bloom shoves some of the grounds into the waves higher than where you may be wanting to pour. Other than that I usually get a pretty even bed. Make sure you use a medium-course grind and don't focus too much on pouring in the middle. Several people recommend a 3:30 extraction time but my best results have come from 2:45. My usual dose is 30g of coffee and 480g of water.
Just found this site while I was looking at Kalita's main site Maybe some have already seen it. Some of Kalita's grinders look cool. It must be a translation thing but they are sometimes called Karita. I wonder if there hand grinders are any good.

+1 to the brew time. For 21g/350, I aim to finish my pour at 2:30 with the drawdown ending at 2:45-3min. I've also had great results going slightly finer with a 2-2:15 pour and drawdown ending at 2:45.
The brew times and grind fineness can be adjusted so use the timing that works best for you. The most important part of this process is the resulting. If the cup tastes good, stick with it.
