Just curious about what has swayed saesoned chemex users to select one chemex type over the other. Have you found any differences in coffee produced by one as opposed to the other? What made you choose one over the other: Convenience? Clean-up? looks? Durability? For discussion purposes, I am not distinguishing between the hand-blown and machine made wood collar models, but maybe I should be.

I have a machine made model with the wooden collar. it looks cool and works fine as long as it's tied on firmly. I suspect the model with a handle would be a bit more convenient to pour from. I'm happy enough with mine. I doubt there's any difference in brew quality.

Really like the retro look of the wood collar is the only reason I chose that option. The glass handle variety is probably easier to clean ie put straight in dish washer.

The handblown model with wooden collar. I find the aesthetics is pleasing; a work of art, and functional also.
Place the two side by side, one, machine made with glass handle, and other with wooden collar, handblown......which will be the one picked up and admired.

Yes; I have used the one with the wooden collar, and maybe it's because I have bear paws for hands, but I couldn't find a great way to grip it without touching hot glass.
