i just finished the cleaning and the steam from the carafe is quite stinky(this is probably close to the 10th cleaning). not gonna attempt to taste it. i have all the parts of the machine off now and i'm gonna let them all air dry like you suggested.
Why not try making a paste of baking soda and water and smear the paste over the offensive surface. Let it dry overnight, and rinse it off in the morning. Baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) is great at odor elimination and won't leave any taste residue.

Found an app called my altitude. Uses gps coordinates. Also tells you the boiling point of water at that altitude. Played with different temps and found I prefer 199 degrees. Who would have thought? I also like the easy cleanup with the slide out basket. All it needs now is a weight based conical grinder for a fully automatic experience.

Well, I think I've gotten past my issues with bloom. Previously I was filling the Brazen with water, hitting start, grinding, then sliding in the filter basket.
Going off of recommendations to give the grind some time I simply changed the order to grind, fill the basket, slide it in, fill with water, hit start. This basically changes the time from grind to water contact from a minute or 2, up to 6 or 7 minutes, and wow, makes a huge difference in the amount of bloom. I was so focused on freshness I guess. I've learned a lot since getting this brewer.
