Got my first vacuum coffee brewer and have a question. I just brewed up my first pot and am super pleased with the coffee i made with it on my first try but I'm curious on how you folks are cleaning the grinds out of the top bowl. BTW, I'm using an 8 cup Yama stovetop brewer with a Cory glass filter rod.
Here's how i cleaned it.. I guess it's slightly awkward but effective. I first removed the glass rod and rinsed it with hot water. Then i rinsed the top bowl with hot water over a larger container. This basically washed the grinds out of the top bowl into the bigger container along with water. The grinds/water then get tossed into the toilet!
I tried just emptying the grinds into the garbage and this proved to be difficult and messy. How are you folks dealing with this?

With my Cona, I scoop as much of grounds as is reasonable into the trash with a plastic or wooden spoon, then rinse the rest down the sink (garbage disposal is helpful there). The bigger issue for me is getting the flask clean and dry, but a bottle brush helps there.

I let the grounds dry while I am at work all day. When I come home, 1) I use my fingers to whisk the grounds out and into the garden. 2) I then rinse the remaining grounds down the garbage disposal, 3) I put a dish rag with hot soapy water on it into the top bowl and shake the dickens out of it, covering the top with my right hand.
The bottom carafe gets the same treatment. I use Dishmate, a coconut oil based product. Three rinses with hot water; spotless.

I know grounds appear to go down the garbage disposal fine but they can get stuck in the trap and cause leaks. Trust me I know first hand. I would compost them.

Same as Boljava and dyqiy, except in my case I'm lazy so all the coffee grounds go down the waste (garbage) disposer, same as all my coffee remains, paper filters etc.
Bottle Brush for the syphon tube, and nylon brush for the upper globe. Also have a Bodum curved bottle brush that's designed specifically for the bottom globes (but it won't fit into very small globes).
You can use the dishwasher, but the glass shapes are a bit awkward to fit, and the bottom globes doesn't always get washed well inside. Also, there's a school of thought that dishwashers might over-clean, which can lead to problems when coming to a boil.
