Hmm, I suspected it might be scale, good to know about the screen. I use a water softener for use in my kettles, for coffee, and espresso but I'll have to keep an eye on this.

In Thornhill, Ontario (Canada) our water is moderately hard.
I have a Panasonic hot-pot (kind of a kettle) that keeps water at 190F and gets refilled as needed. It has lots of scale and I clean it regularly. Per their instructions I use citric acid (powder) dissolving 80 grams in 3 litres of water and let it do a slow boil for an hour. It comes out absolutely free of scale, including the little outlet screen which tends to clog up.
I recently bought an Air-O-Swiss Humidifier. The manual says to clean it every 2 weeks. The cleaner called EZCal is, in fact, citric acid, and the concentration is the same. They say ...to mix it at 140F and let it soak for 1/2 hour.
I buy Citric Acid from an online spice store in Calgary, Alberta, for about $40/kg (including S&H). It is not a cleaner; it is a food additive called Sour-Salt, used for Russian cabbage-borsht and (no doubt) Chinese hot-and-sour soup. Because it is a food additive it is probably safe to use in a coffee-maker (rinse-out after using). Look here.

The Brazen only holds 1.9 litres so the 2.2 kg should do about 43 cleanings. Perhaps a staged manual release method would allow stretching the soak out over a period of time to get longer contact with the screen if needed.

How's $1/lb sound Jerry?, & they're basically right in your back yard.

Sounds like a good method. Amazon has 5 lbs or 2.2 kg for $19.23 USD. With Amazon Prime shipping is free.

Yeah, HAHA! That's because I was still updating my post.. There isn't a link. A person will have to go to the company directly as they have a retail/wholesale customer counter/store there.
It's been years since I bought my 10 lb 5 lb bag & still have a quantity even after giving away 1 or 2 lbs, so I'll call the company on Monday Dec 24th to confirm that the price is the same or whatever.
P.S. Added Sun Jan 13th @ 10:40AM. The price on the 5lb bag is $8.80.

I have the same issue with a bit of water left for 600ml of brew and more for a full pot. I wonder if it is a chipset programming issue with the water flow. I simply go to manual brew after it has finished a cycle and the water simply drains out with no problem. I wonder if unplugging it and letting it sit for a few minutes (and then recalibrate) would work re-setting the program in the chip...just a thought that if water does drain ok it may not be a build-up issue. Maybe if Joe browses the thread he can provide some light on the programming in easy terms

How much is "a bit" with your 600ml brew? I do 800ml daily and have a small puddle left in the reservoir but nothing that bothers me or seems to cause any issues.
