Yeah I would say if your intention is to only make small amounts of coffee to get the smaller version, but if you mainly make like 12 or more ounces to get the 02.

Intrepid and others
The problem, and why I posted Is I am all over the map with regard to amount. In the morning I brew for myself and my partner between 17 and 25 ounces. In the evening I brew between 8 and 12 ounces just for myself. In the summer I brew more b/c of ice coffee.
I face this problem with chemex, Hario or Kalita. I don't want to accumulate a collection of brewing devices for every possibility. Brewing coffee is getting to be unmanageable because I brew varying amounts.
Additionally all three methods require different grinds. My vario-w with metal burrs can certainly handle the different grinds, but the brew batch size relative to methods has eluded me in terns of reducing the Numbet of devices.
Wanting to reduce my device collection if very appealing.

As of yesterday, I decided to focus on my Chemex brewing. I put the Hario stuff in the closet. For some strange reason that I cannot explain, brewing with the Hario gives me heart burn. Might be the thin filter?
I purchased the 1-3 cup chemex for when I want to do 8-9 Ounces.
Sticking with chemex should allow me to keep grind more constant.
If possible I would like to focus on one brew method. I will use the larger 6 or 8 cup for my larger morning brews. Thanks so much.
