After this morning, I too can attest to the fact that our dear Trifecta MB is not idiot proof. In my pre-caffeine morning haze, I failed to realize that the light was still on in the water reservoir as I was filling it for the second 12 oz. cup. After the initial WTF moment, when I noticed that the light was on, I finally realized that what I was pouring in the reservoir was being drawn into the actively filling brew chamber. Seeing 26.3 grams of fresh dry coffee grounds being crammed up against the shower head and only imagining what would happen next when the rest of the water would try to enter an already filled brew chamber, I quickly hit the power button. Disaster averted, but not the mess. I had to take the panel off the shower head and clean the coffee grounds out of the two check valves. The second cup was delayed a bit. Take care!

Got my Trifecta MB this morning and I ended up cleaning all the parts shortly after opening. Since it was quite busy from having all the family over and gift opening I decided to not mess with the machine and decided to use the 33 oz. french press for everyone's coffee use. I ended up drinking a good 32 oz of coffee this morning (which is probably why I couldn't fall asleep when I laid down for a nap this afternoon).
Since I couldn't sleep I decided to finally read the instructions and get everything set up. I ended up grinding some Puerto Rico 360 from Dodd Coffee and measured out 12 grams for my 6 oz. of coffee. I used the standard C and :45 settings and it ended up brewing a great cup of coffee. I can say that it didn't taste too much different from when I brew it using a french press but I do like how I can drink the whole cup now instead of having to dump out the final two sips.
I can't wait to play with the settings but I'm afraid I may have to wait or else I'm going to die from a caffeine overdose.
Random observation (new to me at least): at the top of the brew chamber where it mates with the machine when fully seated there's a little raised part shaped like a trapezoid, e.g. \_/. This is mildly magnetic--discovered by accident when I put the chamber down next to a metal tin and the two stuck together.
So I've had my trifecta for a little over a month and have enjoyed it very much. In fact, ever since I started brewing with my trifecta my french press has been collecting dust.
I finally purchased a grinder that is worthy enough to use with the trifecta (I have a crappy $80 Cuisinart burr grinder) and got a Baratza Vario-W refurb that I hope to have sometime next week. Does anyone using this grinder have a recommended setting for the grind for the trifecta?
