Thx, Prof. I only use the metal disk now. I am wondering if there is also an advantage with oil pass thru. I think, originally, the inverted method came about because the provided filters filtered out some of the oils which prevented them from getting into the cup.
I was wondering because of the metal, if these oils now pass thru, since they are not absorbed by the paper?
I normally press about 300 grams of water which takes about two full minutes total press time. That is about the right amount of water with a normal press, but if I do inverted, I have 80-100 grams maybe that doesn't get pressed.
You can stop that dribble through to get a total volume complete non inverted infusion with all the metal filters designed for the Aeropress (Able disk Regular & Fine, also Kaffeologie S) when you flip the Aeropress down to press by simple pulling up slightly on the plunger. I'd say that creates a tiny vacuum, enough to stop any drip through.
I'm amazed no one's tried this, or if they have., they've not posted about it.. ;)
P.S. I've also discovered about a week ago a 100% Organic Cotton Aeropress Cloth Filter, made in America filter by American Coffee Trader for the Aeropress! {;-) Sorry, gotta find the URL..
• Made from 100% organic cotton grown in the USA • Cotton weaved in the USA • Filter sewn in the USA
