Today I made a drip cup at home using my Macap grinder as usual. I took the same beans to work and made a drip cup there using the whirly blade grinder we have there. The cup made from the blade grinder was actually much better tasting. Quite the eye opener on how unsuited espresso grinders are for drip.

Try grinding finer with the Macap. The blade grinder is probably making more dust and possibly giving more body. Additionally, too many variables are inherent in such a comparison (Same coffee maker? Same brew temperature? Same water? Same state of palate?). Also, try grinding some at home and brewing at work, and try grinding at work and brewing at home.

I've been using my BUNN G1 on my kitchen counter for a while now and have been very happy with it. I find that the grinds at fine, autodrip and drip levels are excellent. I use it for everything but espresso. I use it for one cup (yes, as in 11 grams) and for one pound (for friends). It does what it's supposed to do and keeps on doing it.
