I use a Clever Coffee Dripper (http://www.sweetmarias.com/clevercoffeedripperpictorial.php). Benefits is that it allows the coffee to "steep" instead of starting the drip immediately. Doesn't come with a permanent filter, although you could use separate one that fits a #4 filter.
Feedback on that item you linked: looks like it requires a narrow cup to use; drip would start immediately; would require coffee of a particular fineness although perhaps it is already optimized for canned pre-ground-- one review complains of clogging up. Never used it nor saw it myself though.

Yeah, I was looking at that one too. Have you tried the Handy Brew that is also being sold on Sweet Maria's? I'm trying as much as possible to avoid having to use paper filters and this looks like a decent option:

Yes, that one does look like it would fit the bill, but I haven't tried it. I do like the Clever Dripper's release action. You could always buy a permanent filter for it, but the Handy Brew already has it built in so that would be cheaper-- it's not much more than the Clever.
I don't use permanent filters much, so I don't know if one type of permanent filter is better than others (e.g., the whole gold filter rage).

I have the Clever Brewer and then got the Handy Brewer. I think they're both great but prefer the latter because of the permanent filter.
If you get the Handy Brewer just be a little gentle when putting the filter in place. I pushed a little too hard and it got a slightly deformed and weakened though it still works fine. Eventually, one may be able to but a new filter, but not yet.

I got one of these on ebay. It's a cotton filter that can be used in a cup or carafe. It makes a great cup - sometimes even making marginal coffee seem better.
