If anyone has found an easy way to empty the brew chamber of coffee grounds, please post.
Whacking it against a plastic garbage can works, but I'm afraid long term wise the brew chamber may not like that method. Don't really want to stick a spoon or anything inside because of the exposed screen. I've used a little h20 swirled around and then filtered the water out with a paper towel and then tossed that away. It works but a bit of a pain.
Obviously rinsing it out and throwing the grounds down the sink works, but I'd rather not. I've read where some say it doesn't matter and some say the opposite. I'd just rather not if I didn't have to.

Please consult your plumber since I can't say for certain but I thought if you are on city water it's OK for a little bit to go down the drain but if your house uses a septic tank then you should not...
I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?

A long time ago I used to but my 20-30g of grounds down the drain from my moka pot, eventually my trap got clogged up with grounds. I don't mind rinsing left over grounds down the drain and have no problems with that but I really do not enjoy removing the trap to clear clogs.

I had the same issue with my CafeSolo. Fortunately, I still had my gold filter from my old drip coffee machine. I just stick the gold filter in the sink drain and rinse the CafeSolo filter into it. Then savagely whack the gold filter against the trash can wall to dump the grounds. :-)

Quick question for other Trifecta owners (I held out about an hour before I purchased one): I'm a little concerned that my Trifecta is not brewing at a hot enough water temperature. I ran a water only (no coffee grinds) at turbulence C, .45 seconds, 12 ozs, and took a temperature reading of the water that came out. It registered about 170 degrees -- which seemed a little cooler than I would have expected. (I got the same reading when I ran water only 6oz brew.) I've had the machine plugged in since I got it a couple weeks ago, and have used it almost every day. Perhaps it needs a rest, so I've unplugged it for the time being -- but I'd like to know what sorts of readings others get.

I suspect that 170 is pretty good in the cup. while I have not yet received my Tri, I measured the output from my Clever Coffee Dripper and got about 160. Did you pre-heat the cup? If you want it hotter, that is the way to go.
