Help... Made the investment but can't seem to get a good tasting cup of coffee.. I have been using fresh roasted beans and weighed my coffee to 60gms to a full pot which is 1.25 ltr. I have ground the beans on setting 18 and the coffee is horrible and very bitter....I let it bloom for about 1 minute then open to full and let it continue to brew....any suggestions would really help

Keith,
Seems to be over-extracted with 60 grams to 1.25 L. Try starting with 60 grams and 1 L and see how that is. Then play around with the grind a bit. I'm sure there are a few threads dealing with the Technivorn if you do a search. Hope this helps and take care!

The pathologically precise are annoying, but right!

Grinder: Virtuoso by Baratza Drip: Chemex,Dilongi DCM900 Roaster: 1/2K Fluid-bed

1) Put 1.0 liter of filtered, soft, water plus .25 liter of hard (20 grain) tap-water in the DeLongi DCM900. 2) 72 grams of full-city, Peru SHG, fluid-bed roasted, and rested three days. 3) Grind in Virtuoso at #18 and place in Melitta #4 filter. 4) Bloom for 1 minute with filtered water, 40 seconds off-the-boil. 5) Flip the switch and, behold, 204F water flows up and into the filter and wonderful coffee drips down.
I've found that 'bloom' water temperature has some bearing on bitterness, but the water used has a great effect.
