Posted Sat Mar 2, 2013, 12:33pm Subject: Chemex. How related is grind size to batch size based on water poured through?
hi
Do I need a finger grind when making smaller batches?
I make three batch sizes. These are:
18g/300g using small chemex (1-3 cup) 36g/550g using chemex six cup 44g/710 using chemex six cup
i am going slightly courser than auto-drip (7P on vario-w with metal burrs)
My bloom is about 30 seconds. Brew time oncluding bloom in the small chemex can be as little as 2:10. the total time for my 36g/550g batch is about 3 minutes and the brew time for my 44g/710 batch is about 3:45 to 4:20.
Is this about right or should i vary grind size by batch size?
