I was wondering if I could buy other portafilters that would work my with machine. I believe the one that comes stock with the machine is pressurised and I want to try one that isn't. There is a black piece of plastic at the bottom of my Breville portafilter that is removable. If I take that off does it make it non-pressurised?
I believe that you can convert the basket to non-pressurized by removing the plastic parts from the inside. I've read on here that with the Gaggia pressurized baskets, that is all that is necessary and you're good to go...though I've never held any pressurized basket in my own two hands. Since it comes out, take a look at the basket without it and compare it to pictures of "normal" pfs online...should be simple enough to tell if they look the same.
