i have chemex 8 cup, i can brew only 32 oz before it hits filter, takes about 3 to 4 min great cup of coffee, there biggest is 13 cup hand blown, will i get 52 oz with that, maybe i have a 6 cup and dont know it, will i have hard time keeping extraction time with 13 cup thanks gene

i went to the chemex site and they had hights of 6 cup, i have six cup in 8 cup box, i remember i broke the 8 years ago, now if i go bigger will i have a hard time keeping extraction to the 3 to 4 min, how big can i go again thanks gene

ok we got that settled. if i get the 13 cup, 65 oz hand blown will i be able to keep the brewing time to around 4 min? i use about 1.3 grams of coffee to 1 oz water. someone out there use a big chemex semper fi gene

There is simply no way 65 ounces of water will pass through the Chemex with enough ground coffee in 4 minutes. You would need a super coarse grind, like pebbles to make it through.
The more grinds you have and the mire water you pass through the more likely the draw down will be markedly slowed. The Chemex easily gets choked off. At high volumes. It should take about 7-11 minutes for a full 13 cup batch.

I KNOW you don't want to hear this, but there is no way the coffee will be hot enough for anyone to add 1/2 or milk without having to reheat their mug. Personally, I'd consider a large stainless vac pot like a Nicro (vintage) or Adcraft. Mine brews 50 oz piping hot. Or brew an 8 cup 40oz Chemex, decant into a Nissan, etc) thermal keeper, then do another smaller 4-5 cup Chemex.
