Subject: Bialetti stove top with mystery (to me) attachment?

Hi just bought a secondhand moka pot from ebay, have had many of these over the years but this one has an extra gizmo.

It's a small detachable cylinder that sits over the spout it the upper half of pot, looks like it restricts flow. Anyone know what it does?

Thank you,

Matt

Welcome to CG - here is what I know about my Bialetti's:

If it is black, then it is a Mukka (left photo). If it is silver, then it is a Brikka (right photo).

The part for each restricts flow until enough pressure is built up.

I chew coffee beans with my teeth while gargling with 195 F water to enjoy coffee. What is this "coffee brewing" device you speak of?
