Hi, I have a no-name, stainless steel moka pot that I bought at an antique mall a while ago. It's my first steel one, and I was wondering if a weld/solder seam inside the carafe is normal for them. Should I have it checked for lead before using it?

Scrape it with a stiff knife. if it is any sort of soft solder you should be able to easily mar it or even remove a bit of material. If it is a weld or braze (which is more likely), or possibly silver solder it will be quite a bit harder.
