Anyone out there with a 2013 Virtuoso?  I just received one and notice 2 things different---one is a concern while the other is just a little annoying.  There is a 3rd thing that IS a problem so waiting to hear from Cust Serv on that.  Been grinding with a back-up but hope this gets resolved soon (grinder problems since 5/6).

1 - When seating the ring burr it has some movement clock and counter clockwise THEN when checking stability at 2 (like on a clock) the other
side rocks up but I put my finger down at 8 it does not rock up on the other side (at 2).

2 - The grounds bin doesn't slide in easily, makes a scratching sound.  I looked inside where the bin goes---the plastic (case) surface looks dull
but soft like an unfinished surface---the bottom (floor) area is polished/finished about 3/4 of the way back, then dull the rest of the way to
the back wall of the bin area (weird, IF you drew a "line" where polished-meets-dull it's not straight across but at an angle).

3 - Assembled the grinder, put bean hopper on and it stopped at #21, called Cust Serv---they finally had me force it but it wouldn't go all the
way down, stopped at #8.  They had me take pictures to email---did that but haven't heard back yet and that was on 5/16.

This grinder is a replacement for my first new one.  My back-up is better than hand grinding but it's certainly NOT a Baratza.  Hoping I hear from Cust Serv soon---can anyone out there fill me in on the time factor in these situations?

I would ask that very question of Baratza.  Only they know their current workload.  If you have a concern about their responsiveness, who better to address and serve your needs?  You have paid good money for the product, ask for the services needed.  They have been known to accommodate.

Thanks, Bold Java....  I certainly will.

When I sent pics of the replacement grinder it was apprx 9pm Thursday evening on 5/16----next day being Friday, you're already looking the weekend in the face. It's about 10am, Tues morning here now which makes it 7am where they are so hope I hear back today.

This replacement arrived (late Mon, 5/13) in 8 days but I was out of town next 2 days. That's why I didn't open the box til Thursday afternoon---which is why it's taken the time it has. Out of the box and onto the counter I checked all the parts, that's when I called them.

Wow interesting. I have a 2013 Virtuoso and when I first got it, the hopper would stick right about #20, and it would shift the hopper a bit. I would force it past and then it was fine. Going back the other way, some problem. I desembled and noticed that the plastic bulged just bit on the body of the grinder around #20. I filed it down a bit and then it's smooth. However, there is also an issue with how stable the clicks are. Going right --> left it's better than going left --> right. Overall I don think that has affected the grind, but your post has made me think there is a larger issue going on.

Hey SquareMile....  that's funny about your hopper. After being told to force past 21, mine would still not go much past 9-8, felt like if forced it might break so back in the box it went (never plugged in). Funny, while on the phone with them I was told I should not remove the housing (on any grinder) and should not have to calibrate due to setting done at the factory---that can't be right as I've read here on Geek that people have removed the case/housing to find different calibration settings. Also there are videos on 'how to remove' the case (for different reasons) on Baratza's site.

Still waiting to work this out thru email but this started 5/6---I now have 2 grinders to return, #1 not working and #2 the replacement with hopper problem just mentioned. My #3 would be Mr. Back-Up Full of Grinds---maybe I should 'Taylor Swift' a song about my relationship w/grinders except "We-E-E are never, everrrr breaking up, we'll-be-togetherrrr".  LOL
