Subject: AKO Ismet Brewers

I have a couple of German-made double coffee brewers.  They are each about 7 years old and were made by a German company called AKO (Now AKO Ismet).  The machines are 10 cup pour-over models and use standard cone filters.  They originally came in single pot and double pot models, and are glass-lined thermal carafes.
In addition to being built like battleships, they brew extremely hot coffee and have totally removable filter baskets which lie flat on the counter to avoid spillage when they are being filled.

The machines were originally were distributed in the US by a company in Franklin, TN, but due to some embezzlement issues, the company closed and liquidated it's inventory in 2003.  They are still made, but only for the European market with European power specs.

I am DESPERATE to buy a couple of new single-carafe machines in Black.  If anyone has seen these or knows where to find them, please let me know.  If anyone knows were to finds a machine almost as good (I've heard the Newco is excellent...it even looks a little like the AKO) I'd appreciate the referral.

If anyone has these machines and is looking for a replacement carafe, please let me know...I have a few extra in black that I had shipped over from Germany.

Mark

My mother has one of these coffee makers is is a double. Her lids have cracked and she would like to replace them but I am not finding any info on these coffee makers. Could you tell me where you ordered from and if you have any spare lids we could purchase.
