I am looking to purchase a drip coffee maker such as a Chemex or similar brewer.    What is equivalent to a Chemex and what other machines would you recommend.

Do you want a machine or a manual (pour-over) brewer?

There are a bunch of different devices out there that will do a pour over method for you. If you are looking for the full setup then I would go with the Chemex. If you are just wanting pour over coffee every now and then, you can go with something as simple as a filter cone holder that will fit right into your cup for brewing.
