MisterW... glad to hear your brewer problem is being solved. My replacement is brewing w/good results in the cup---I've not yet had the time or patience to actually test the brew temp but w/do so soon just to see.
msboo, thanks for the information on the replacement carafe via Amazon. I checked it out and read the reviews and there are more "exploding" carafes mentioned there than on this forum! Too bad Bonavita will not admit the problem is with their product and not user error.

Etexlady.... you're most welcome----so thankful for others here that already knew about the BV/Melitta thermal carafe sold as the 8 Cup Thermal Pour Over. Great having an extra carafe at a more reasonable $. I've used that one a few times with no problem---knock on wood!!
Was curious if owners of BV Glass Carafe brewers could buy their replacements for less (BB&B or Amazon) vs going thru BV at extra cost. The glass carafes in those model Melitta pour overs only come in 6 and 10 cup capacity, also a little different shape and handle... while the 8 cup thermal pour over is the exact BV thermal carafe.
As said before... common, typical glass-lined thermal carafes have what looks like a tall, narrow bottle interior. They all appear to be the same universal "bottle" inside, regardless of the brand. Something I've seen all my life in plain old thermoses that have a screw-on plug top with a screw-on cup over that. Big difference in a tall glass bottle VS the wide, short, squatty jar type glass interior of the BV thermal carafe.
I would love to know IF the difference in these glass interior shapes and carafe construction has any bearing on Bonavita "exploding carafes".
