Subject: Help with Mahlkonig Tanzania/Guatemala grinder settings

I just bought a couple of Mahlkonig grinders for my shop and their grinder settings are just labeled 1-9 (I believe 1 is Turkish and 9 is coarse, and there are quarter settings between each number).
Before I waste $50 on coffee trying to find decent grinder settings, can anybody give me ballpark settings for the following uses:

  1. Hario V60 pourover, looking for a medium-fine setting ballpark number
  2. Fetco CBS-2032 dual airpot brewer

Hopefully someone out there can at least point me in the right direction and let me make fine adjustments from there.

I've spent the last 2 hours googling and can't find anything.

THANK YOU!

Not quite exactly what you asked for, but since Mahlkonig and Ditting are the same grinders you might find some guidance at Ditting's suggested settings page.

I use 6 for the Fetco. I would use 5 for the Hario.

2 to 21/2 for espresso, 4 for moka pot, 6 for most drip filters, 8 for plunger, if using generally high grown arabicas. 5 sounds about right for a cloth filter vacpot, 7 for a glass filter pot. Robusta in a blend can complicate things in unpredictable ways at the espresso and finer grind levels.

For the Tanzania, I'm using between 5 and 6 (5.25-5.75 to be more specific).
