I recently noticed the same thing.  I have had mine for awhile and I have always used around 24 grams for 12 oz and the cups have been good but I recently upped it to 25 or just a tad over and they have been much better.  I was surprised such a small difference made as much difference.

I've been on the verge of pulling the trigger to get one of these after having some cups from the commercial version.

However, seems like this thread is full people trying to fix broken ones. For $550, it sounds like it's a pretty finicky machine. Do you guys think it's worth waiting for a model upgrade? Or maybe just getting the commercial one?

Well, it's not a mindless, disposable drip coffee maker and to get the most out of it requires some preventative maintenance. It's new technology and this forum thread is just part of the learning curve for early adopters. I was hours away from purchasing a commercial unit a year after buying my MB, but decided I didn't need that many brew variables to worry about. All I really wanted was to brew 16 oz. cups, because the coffee was that good. Most of the guts of the MB are from the commercial unit and that is why it costs $550. It's built like a tank, but it's still a high tech tank and requires a certain amount of preventative maintenance. Think of it like a french press "espresso machine". It has seals, valves and pumps and function best when kept clean. Mine has been relatively trouble-free, with most issues being caused from operator error or differences in coffee that affected the brew cycle. I would buy another in  heartbeat and continue to recommend it. Hope this helps and take car!

Jim

Like any Internet forum, you will find many posts by people who have had issues with the product...and very few positive posts...that being said, go to the Porsche forums and see what people say about a $100k plus purchase...

The product is really good, just do regular maintenance and you will be rewarded by amazing cups of coffee, time after time...

Good luck!

Fair point. I also have a Moccamaster, which I love. But imagine if I checked those threads, I'd notice quite a few service posts.

Is there any "best" place to order from? Was considering Sweet Maria's or Bunn direct. Seems like price is uniform everywhere.

I've been dying to find out if this place is legit:

ioffer.com

They advertise the Trifecta MB for $399.00

I found a $60 coupon code for Whole Latte Love, so ended up being 489.00 with free shipping. Not too bad I think.

Ioffer looked too good to be true, lots of mixed reactions.

Good deal! I think you will love the machine. Until my recent glitch mine was working well for 2 years, and Bunn just replaced my machine, so they will stand behind it.

Looks like mine is due to arrive on Monday. Exciting!

Aside from the table that comes with it, do you guys know of anyone that collects recipe/machine settings for that machine?

I figure a lot of the fun will be figuring it out, but didn't know if someone was collecting proven ones.

Btw, is there any way to hide the topic review when replying? On iPad, I have to scroll forever to get down to the reply button on some of these threads.

Wow, mine didn't come with a TABLE. I had to make room for it on my countertop! :-)

Take care!
