Subject: what type of coffee maker do I have?

I bought this at a thrift store today.  It looks like a siphon coffee maker, but there is no tube.  (I would post a pic, but something just went screwy with the camera connection just now.)

The entire contraption sits in a circular wire frame, that has three legs.  The legs hold up a metal round "bucket" which says "fuel paste only."  It sits 1/2" above bottom of table.

In the bottom round bucket, but not touching, is another metal round "bucket" with several small holes in it which screws onto a glass canister.  The glass canister has markings of 2, 3, 4 up both sides.  The bottom of the glass canister is a metal piece with eight small holes.  The top of the glass canister is open, with a black rubber ring around it.

Another metal round "bucket" which says "fuel paste only" sits inside the very top of the glass canister, 1" deep into the black rubber ring.  On the top of this metal bucket is a metal lid, with one open circle in the middle and 8 smaller circles around that circle which can be closed off with the turn of the handle on this piece.  This "lid" is covered with a loose metal lid and handle.

Any ideas about what this is and how to make coffee in it?  The only other writing on the glass canister is P-114-U.  In the metal bucket which says fuel paste only, the words" nur brennpaste verwenden pate combustible seulement fuel paste only" are there.

Thanks for any help!

a photo would really help...I"m having problems visualizing the whole thing.

if there's no stem from the top bowl into the bottom bowl, it can't be a vac/siphon pot (unless its broken).

maybe its more like a percolator?  or its designed like those metal stove-top espresso pots?
