Hello, I really want to upgrade my Mr.Coffee mill into something else for I found out it doesnt produce very consistent grind. Since my budget is tight and I have no space in my house, I'd rather go for a manual grinder. So I have narrate my options to Hario Mini, Kyocera CM 50 and Porlex. I'm a french press and espresso person, any suggestion? thanks

Welcome. Re: the budget, how tight is tight? By the way, I think you'll be hard-pressed to find a single hand grinder that does both espresso and coarse grinding exceptionally well.

when you say you're an espresso person, what does that mean? you like ordering them at cafes? how do you make them at home with your mr. coffee mill?
as for a hand grinder at a low cost, there really arent many options. a french press grind requires a fairly consistent coarse grind and real espresso will require a very fine, consistent and very adjustable grind.
if i had to choose from your options, i'd go with the kyocero CM50 with the lower bearing upgrade kit from orphan espresso. Click Here (www.orphanespresso.com)
the bearing upgrade will improve the coarser end of your grinding, which is the main issue with these kyocera/hario grinders.
most also report that this will do a decent job at grinding for espresso but the size of the grind steps may require you to adjust your tamp for proper extraction.

oh i meant that i have a gaggia classic but ive been silly enough to use a mr coffee for it. and thanks, i'd def go for the kyocera now since the lower bearing is not that expensive.

glad to help.
keep in mind though that you'll really need an espresso specific grinder to be able to get exceptional espresso. results from that hand grinder will be decent at best.
