I finally cleaned my Porlex grinder after 8 months of intermittent use for travel and camping.
I knew the burrs were somewhat stained and thought I could just run hot water and some dishsoap through it. But when it became clear that there were some trapped grounds inside that wouldn't wash out I disassembled the grinder. I was surprised to discover a substantial quantity of grounds had collected in between the "washer" and inner burr. There probably isn't enough exchange to affect the freshness of a grind but I found the idea of months old coffee grounds in there is a little repulsive. I'll be cleaning it more regularly now, thank you.
