Hi all, I bought this roaster from Burman Coffee in March, '12. This is actually my 2nd Gene Café that I bought from Burman Coffee. The 1st one I bought in 2007 & it lasted me about 5 years. I do love this Roaster.
But, I’m having trouble with this one the last few months. It just does NOT reach hot enough of temps, it levels off @ 420s may be 430 tops & that’s it. So, I end up roasting coffees for a long time since the temps don’t get as hot as needed. So, I’m having many troubles & issues with this 2nd purchase.
I contacted Tim @ skales@mwutah.com as recommended by Burman Coffee. They replied right away, but to ship it to them to look @ it in Utah will cost me about ~$20-$30.
It is not a cheap piece of equipment as we all know, thus I’m not crazy nor eager to spend any more $$$ on it then I really really have to or should have to actually. I still have time on my 1-year warrantee on it.
Their suggestion is to - blow out the bottom grill where the air intake is, brush the grill on the bottom, & blow air in & around the grill. This may clean out any dust or chaff that maybe blocking the intake.
Question: any one else have this problem with this new GC Roaster? How to fix it or try to fix it on my own so I don't have to ship it to them? And, if I do ship it to them, why am I the one paying for it if it is still under warrantee? Etc...
Any help/suggestions &/or similar experience(s) will be appreciated as I consider my options.
P.S.: I’m just afraid in the winter coming up, the temps will never reach the desired & needed temps considering it has a problem reaching those temps during warm climates.
Thanks all as always!
P.S.: Sorry for the long-winded post, but I wanted to get it all in 1 post.
