Hi I have the vario-W with metal burrs. Given the cost, I have been reluctant to use the grinder to grind flavored beans as I hear you can never get the odor out. Is there any way to effectively clean the grinder? I currently use Grindz monthly. Would I be better off which a cheap second grinder. I would hate that, as our counter space is limited. Thanks Jay

Flavored coffee? If someone really wants flavored coffee why not just use flavoring extracts/ syrups/ oils etc. after the brew instead.

Sometimes my fiance likes flavored coffee, so I just use a hand grinder for that, the "flavored" smell is hard to get out of a grinder even after multiple runs of normal beans and cleaning (grindz, rice etc)

I never tried this, but if I had the same problem I'd mix rice with baking soda, grind the whole mixture, and vacuum the grinder at the end. Don't yell at me if it doesn't work, it's just an idea, but baking soda is a pretty good ecological way to remove bad smells, it might work here too.

the smell is permanent...don't do it. I soaked some baratza parts in cafitza for about a half hour, and that worked well, but there are parts that you just can't do that with.
