I couldn't find the post on optional filters for the v60 no.2, but from Hario there is the white and "brown" Misarashi filters. My question is, does anyone know if the brown filters are truly minimally processed and doesn't contain harsh chemicals? Anyone speak Japanese and can Google for us?
Also, anyone tried using If You Care branded filters in their v60? How do you fold them?

I'm pretty sure even the white Hario filters aren't oxygen-whitened, not bleached. But if you really want to go natural and eco-friendly, I'd get an organic cotton filter like this one: Click Here (prima-coffee.com)

If you actually want to enjoy the taste of coffee, do not use the brown filters. They impart a really nasty public-restroom paper towel taste to the cup, even when rinsed with hot water.
IMO life is too short to worry about the (probably non-existant) negative eco-impact of white vs brown filters.
If you're really that anal about it..get a permanent filter like Lee suggested. I would go for something like the Kone or Swissgold over cloth though.
I totally agree about the taste thing. For the longest time I used brown filters. When I tried a white filter in my Melitta it was outrageous how much better it tasted. When I upgraded to the V60 with white filters, my coffee experience jumped to a whole new level.
I also agree with Evan, I do not like the taste of brown filters. The whole eco thing is a big yawn to me, I really don't care one way or the other. I guess if you are really sensitive about this, you could really recycle and use an old sock to filter the coffee, heck it is 100% natural fiber and washable YMMV~!!! LOL

I've used a coffee sock every so often as a back-up brewer while camping. This is where I purchased my travel coffee filter and the quality is quite good. I just noticed that they even have one for the Hario v60…
