Posted Mon Mar 31, 2014, 11:00am Subject: Sourcing flavored coffee?
I have a friend who travels to/from Eastern Europe regularly. She is from the former Soviet Union. Her friends back home love flavored coffee. She wants to start bring back flavored coffees on her trips as (apparently) it is a bit hit back home.
She asked me "where is the best place to buy Hazelnut or French Vanilla coffee". I simply have no idea.
Can anyone suggest a reliable roaster who also offers flavored coffee?

Have you checked your local roasters? Many times they will have a good flavored coffee bean section.
"Coffee leads men to trifle away their time, scald their chops, and spend their money, all for a little base, black, thick, nasty, bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water." ~The Women's Petition Against Coffee, 1674
For anything flavored, I prefer to start with quality properly roasted coffee then if a guest wants flavor, I add syrup. This way, I can have the quality coffee I favor and others can have the flavor they want while stocking only one coffee and this does not contaminate the grinder as flavored coffee tends to do.
In real life, my name is Wayne P. Anything I post is personal opinion and is only worth as much as anyone else's personal opinion. YMMV!

I agree - syrups tend to add a more natural flavor anyway. Any time I've had hazelnut beans or any other flavor, they taste funny. Granted, this was before my discovery of real coffee through the forums. I still occasionally add flavor to a latte - it masks a terrible shot pretty well.

If she is looking to do quantity and I assume she might be a bit and more concerned about gifts than education, Don Fransisco, aka Gavina? is available in a lot of large grocery stores or online at http://www.shopdonfrancisco.com/
Another possibility is whatever your regional retailer is if you have one. Coffee Bean and Caribou both do flavored (or at least they used to)
Hey Tom, looks like she is your close friend, so why donít you treat her with yummy coffee. It would make her day great. Here is the recipe: Boil the water and get a mug and put in two tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of instant coffee. Adjust to size of cup and taste.
When the water is ready, pour in as much to fill the cup, allowing for any liquid you plan to add.
