On August 15, 2007, I visited Coffee Klatch in San Dimas, California. Lots of Heather's awards are on display. All six WBC Finalists got this beautiful trophy in the shape of Mount Fuji.

Coffee Klatch got the 2007 WBC Best Espresso award. At Coffee Klatch they told me that the 2007 USBC blend had Blue Batak in it and they switched to Sumatra Lake Tawar for the 2007 WBC competition. I bought one pound for $19.

At Coffee Klatch I had two single espressos pulled with their house blend. I had the 1oz single espresso shown in the upper right first, which tasted great. I ordered another one (lower right pic) which wasn't nearly as good.

The display of the expensive Esmeralda at $200/pound (only roasted to order). Those three small half pound gold colored bags are just for show and are not filled with beans. They sell a much less expensive non-auction Esmeralda for about $30 per half pound. I don't know what the difference is.

Fairly substantial to my palate. Just not a $170-$220 difference.
I've had the second lot from a variety of sources, including Coffee Klatch(I thought I was getting the BoP, but not). It's a good coffee. Really good. Nice, gentle, aromatic, fruits, peaches, mandarins.
But I've also had the BoP microlot the $130 / $270 a lb (retail, cdn dollars) coffee from five sources now. It's an amazing, singular, clean crisp coffee. Huge grapey / blue fruit start, tangarine middle that goes mandarin in the cool down, and a very delicate hawaiian type honey (super delicate honey, white) finish.
It's a coffee I'd happily pay $40, $45 a lb for. (I'd pay maybe $25, $30 for the second lot stuff - at $35 or more, it's overpriced, imo). I would not pay $135 / half pound for the esmeralda BoP. It just isn't that singular. It's amazing, but not that amazing.
I noticed Coffee Klatch is now calling their espresso blend the best in the world (!!!). Dunno what to say about that.
